WE tv GREENLIGHTS NEW DOCU-SOAP CYNDI (WT), A BACKSTAGE PASS INTO THE LIFE OF MUSIC ICON CYNDI LAUPER
Series Produced by Mark Burnett’s One Three Inc.
Premieres Summer 2012
NEW YORK, NY – March 21, 2012 – WE tv has greenlit the new docu-soap CYNDI (working title) showcasing the over-the-top life of Grammy winning music icon Cyndi Lauper. The series is slated to premiere on WE tv this summer and joins the network’s line-up of originals that showcase an unfiltered view of modern family life from a woman’s perspective. CYNDI joins the recently announced series KENDRA ON TOP, HAIR DIVAS: HOLLYWOOD (working title) and new episodes of the network’s hit series BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES.
WE tv has ordered 12 half-hour episodes from Mark Burnett’s One Three Inc.; production begins in April in New York.
“I’m really looking forward to reuniting with Mark Burnett and working with his team and WE tv on my new show,” said Cyndi Lauper. “They make a powerful combination so I am going into this venture with an A Team! I love TV and this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
“I am thrilled to continue our relationship with the amazing Cyndi Lauper,” said Mark Burnett, “and very excited to be producing our first show for WE tv.”
CYNDI takes viewers on an all-access journey into the personal and professional life of one of pop culture’s most beloved and influential icons as she juggles her roles as rock star, mother, wife, Broadway composer, and philanthropist. With her hectic touring schedule, awards appearances, and recording sessions, Cyndi’s family life with her husband of 20 years, actor David Thornton (My Sister’s Keeper, The Notebook), and the couple’s 13-year-old son, Declyn, is anything but “normal.” CYNDI will explore the life of an artist who passionately pursues her creative endeavors, work demands and family life without compromising on any of them. She may be constantly running to keep up, but Cyndi’s true colors show equally at a glamorous photo shoot and while cheering on Declyn at a hockey game.
CYNDI is produced for WE tv by Mark Burnett’s One Three Inc. Mark Burnett and Cyndi Lauper serve as the show’s executive producers. Annabelle McDonald is the executive producer for WE tv.

『次の曲は、She’s So Unsualのアルバムに収録されている「ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT」という曲です。』と紹介し、ダルシマーを弾きながら「ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT」
と静かに語ると、続けて「TIME AFTER TIME」へ。
The 2012 New York City LGBT Pride March will shine brighter than ever this year, with a little help from a legendary pop diva.
Heritage of Pride has confirmed to HuffPost Gay Voices that Cyndi Lauper will serve as a grand marshal in the 43rd annual event, scheduled for June 24.
"Our choices for this year's Grand Marshals embody everything we look for in representatives that give back to the LGBT community and have made a huge impact on the overall movement," Mike Dunlap, March Director, said in a press release.
Joining Lauper will be Kiehl's Since 1851 President Chris Salgardo, as well as Phyllis Siege and Connie Kopelov, who became New York's first-ever same-sex married couple on July 24, 2011 after 23 years together.
"Chris Salgardo's consistent track record on corporate responsibility, Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund, and Connie & Phyllis' symbolic, newly legalized union further prove that the LGBT movement is alive and well," Dunlap continued.
The 58-year-old Lauper, a Queens native, said she was thrilled by the choice. "Pride is one of my favorite times of the year, and as a lifelong New Yorker, I am excited to get to celebrate it in the greatest city in the world," she noted in a press release. "I look forward to marching down 5th Avenue arm and arm with my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community as we let the world know that we will not rest until equality for all becomes a reality."
Lauper -- whose sister Elen is a lesbian -- opened the True Colors Residence in Harlem, the first permanent housing facility in New York state specifically for LGBT youth between the ages of 18 to 24, last fall. She also started the Give a Damn Campaign as part of an effort to educate heterosexual people about the issue.
"As a mother, I could never imagine throwing my kid away for any reason, let alone over something like their sexual orientation or gender identity," she wrote in a blog for HuffPost Gay Voices. "It would be like ripping out a piece of my very own soul."

US pop legend Cyndi Lauper called on the world not to forget Japan's northern region, a day after the first anniversary of the country's quake-tsunami disaster.
"I just want to say to the world, please don't forget about Japan, it's very traumatic," Lauper told the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan in Tokyo on Monday.
Lauper, best known for 80's hit songs including "Time after Time" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", was in Japan for a concert tour and to visit areas affected by last year's natural disasters, which triggered the world's worst nuclear accident in a generation.
The 58-year-old entertainer said a woman in disaster-ravaged northern Japan gave her a piece of candy, promising it was not contaminated by radiation.
"And I'm thinking 'Oh my God' and this is the thing, nobody goes up north at all," Lauper said.
"Those people can't be isolated and cut off... They could have radiation issues but I don't think you can catch radiation by shaking somebody's hands and giving them a hug.
"The only way to get back up again is to include them."
On Sunday, tens of thousands rallied near Japan's crippled Fukushima plant demanding an end to nuclear power, while thousands more around the world protested against atomic power.
Lauper had arrived in Tokyo for an earlier tour when the disasters struck on March 11 and decided to continue performing.
"I talked to my crew... I said I'd like to stay because I felt it would be a good distraction (for people) and if music is truly healing then let's see, put it to the test here," she said.
1 year later, Cyndi Lauper urges support for Japan
Colorful eighties pop icon Cyndi Lauper already has singer, songwriter, and actress on her resume. Now she has another string to her bow: unofficial spokesperson for the Tohoku region.
Singer Cyndi Lauper speaks at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo 12th March.
Last March 11, Ms. Lauper arrived at Tokyo’s Narita Airport to find that Japan, where she has toured frequently since 1983, was being rocked by the triple disasters of the magnitude-9.0 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis. Instead of fleeing, Ms. Lauper continued with her concert tour plans, and promised to return the next year.
Ms. Lauper kept her promise, visiting the disaster zone in the Tohoku region last week. The visit took her to Ishinomaki city, Miyagi prefecture, where she visited an elementary school and donated a locally restored piano, along with a cherry tree.
“I played in Tokyo, and when I sang ‘True Colors,’ everyone sang back to me,” Ms. Lauper told reporters at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan Monday, referring to one of her early concerts in Japan. The singer said was the first time she had ever heard the hit song, which she describes as being about healing, sung back to her.
When the disasters struck, she said, she and her band stuck by her musical philosphy that “rock-n-roll can heal the world,” staying to try to help Japan through her music. “If I left, what would ‘True Colors’ have meant anyway? What kind of healing song would it have been if I came in singing that and then hightailed it out of here because it looked a little scary?”
This year Ms. Lauper is continuing in the same vein, performing throughout Japan, while also encouraging her Japanese fans to buy its local products to help the economy, and not isolate the people of Tohoku.
She also had some frank words for the Japanese government, asking it for full disclosure on possible radiation contamination in Tohoku.
“When you don’t know, you’re fearful and you feel powerless.” Ms. Lauper said. “Information is power.” Ms. Lauper’s parting words were also in support of Tohoku: “Have a sake for me from Fukushima, it’s pretty good!”
One year to the date since the terrible earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, Cyndi Lauper performed her third and final show at the Orchard Hall in Tokyo's Bunkamura as part of the Cyndi Lauper (シンディ・ローパー) Japan Tour 2012.
During the rehearsals before the show Cyndi Lauper gathered her band and crew for 3 minutes silence to remember the vicitims of 11th March 2011. See photo below.
This concert was shown live to fans in three different prefectures (Kitakami in Iwate Prefecture, Natori and Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima, capital of Fukushima Prefecture) for free and in other areas of Japan for an admission fee (all profits to be donatd to the Japanese Red Cross).
The concert will be shown on the 25th March 2012 @ 21:00. WOWOW Live will broadcast the show and it will also feature a special interview with Cyndi Lauper.
There was no change to the setlist tonight with Cyndi Lauper singing 16 songs. TOKU joined Cyndi Lauper, Charlie Musselwhite and Steve Gaboury on True Colors
Throughout the show Cyndi Lauper said "I love everyone in the Northeast. Hope everyone is ok. Today let's sing together."

Make Some Nooooooise!!』
2曲目「Set Your Heart」でダンスビート、3曲目でギターを持って「When You Were Mine」、
と語って「JUST YOUR FOOL」へ。
「ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT」が終わると 『アリガトウ。

DOWN DONT BOTHER MEという曲です』
続いてそのまま「GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN」へ。

Description:
"Cyndi Lauper, the Pop Star Who Keeps Her Promise"
After one year, she's back, as promised.
When Cyndi Lauper landed at Narita airport for her 2011 Japan tour, it was the same day the devastating quake and tsunami hit the Tohoku area and rattled nerves throughout much of Japan. The pop star was herself stuck in traffic and couldn’t reach her Tokyo hotel until around 3 a.m. the next day. Then came the steadily worsening nuclear disaster. Ignoring advice from overseas to immediately return home like so many others, she stayed and went ahead with her tour as planned. And she promised to come back again...
Before her special one year anniversary performance on Sunday, Lauper has already visited the Tohoku area. She will come to the FCCJ and share with us her thoughts on Japan, the disasters and the future, on Monday, March 12.

オープニングは1983年のデビュー・アルバム『She’s So Unsual』から「She Bop」。
今まであったかなあ??3曲目はこれまたデビュー・アルバム『She’s So Unsual』から「When You Were Mine」をアコギ弾きながら歌う。
http://www.charliemusselwhite.com/
9 曲目は「All Through the Night」ダルシマーを弾くシンディ。 「Time After Time」。 とにかく、パワフルな曲だからこれをやるのもいいかと思って』と語って、11曲目は1989年『A Night To Remember』から「I Drove All Night」。
12曲目は1986年『True Colors』から「Change Of Heart」。
去年のツアーで見せてくれたようなヴァージョンの「Girls Just Want to Have Fun」。 お次は”Girls Just“と歌うと、今度は”Wana Have Fun”と応える。
Cyndi Lauper performed live on the Japanese morning programme Sukkiri. Cyndi Lauper came on just after 9:11am and performed a lovely version of Time After Time with Charlie Musselwhite on Harmonica and Steve Gaboury on Keyboards.

で「Time After Time」歌う
「Time After Time」をパフォーマンス。
UPDATED! Air date changed to 16th March

US singer Cyndi Lauper has brought smiles to Japanese children who survived last year's earthquake and tsunami.
The pop star, who is in Japan for a concert tour, visited an elementary school in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, on Monday 5th March 2012.
Cyndi Lauper sang several of her hit songs for the school's 350 students. Afterward, she shook hands with her young fans, and presented the school with 10 cherry saplings. She said she hopes the children will grow up along with the trees, and remember that she is always thinking of them.
The school says it will plant the trees on graduation day later this month.
Last year, Lauper arrived in Japan on March 11th, the day the massive earthquake and tsunami struck the northeastern part of the country.
Many foreigners left Japan in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, but she stayed on and performed her concerts as scheduled.
She has also been collecting donations and organizing other forms of support for survivors.
Cyndi Lauper was invited to Japan to be a part of the one year anniversary of the earthquake & tsunami. Cyndi Lauper will play six shows whilst there plus radio and TV interviews.
